Reeth Show has been a great family day out in Swaledale for well over a century and this year is no exception. Taking place on Monday 31st August 2026, this is the 112th running of the show and it’s built for visitors of every age. Spend the August Bank Holiday in North Yorkshire experiencing the best of the Dales countryside.
The day kicks off with the Reeth Brass Band parading through the village, leading the Show Committee and judges down to the showground. Once there, children can enjoy fairground rides and spend their pocket money on stalls. Meanwhile, candyfloss, bouncy castles and a licensed bar for the adults keep everyone happy. The display of vintage tractors, cars, motorbikes and bikes is always a fun attraction with younger visitors too, who love clambering up for a closer look.
Alongside the usual horse and sheep classes, the main ring hosts some of the show’s most colourful moments, including the Open Driving Competition and the ever popular Mounted Fancy Dress. This is guaranteed to bring a smile no matter your age. Elsewhere, for older kids and adults who fancy a challenge, the Great Fremington Edge Fell Race sends runners scrambling up the hill above the showground, a thrilling sight to watch from the field below.
Beyond the entertainment, the show’s large marquee is packed with horticulture, produce and handicraft classes. Nearby, the sheep sections showcase some of the finest breeds in the Dale. It’s a gentle, genuine slice of Dales life that pairs perfectly with a day of family fun.
After a day enjoying the show, return to Yorebridge House. The country house hotel is around 10 miles from Reeth, a scenic 25 minute drive over the moor. While we’re best known for romantic breaks, we happily welcome families too. We offer cots, Z-beds and high chairs on request, plus a kids’ menu in the restaurant.
